Keratin treatments have become one of the most popular salon services for a reason — they deliver smooth, frizz-free hair for months at a time. But there are a few things worth understanding before you book.
What Is a Keratin Treatment?
Keratin is the protein that makes up your hair. Over time, heat styling, chemical processing, and environmental factors deplete the hair's natural keratin levels, leading to frizz, breakage, and dullness.
A salon keratin treatment replenishes this protein by infusing a keratin solution into the hair shaft and sealing it with heat. The result is smoother, shinier, and more manageable hair.
How Long Does It Last?
Depending on your hair type and how you maintain it, results typically last 3–5 months. Coarser, curlier hair may see the effects fade sooner than fine or wavy hair.
Aftercare Rules
The first 72 hours are critical. Avoid: - Washing or wetting your hair - Tying your hair back or using clips - Sweating heavily (avoid the gym) - Salt water or chlorine exposure
After this initial period, switch to a sulphate-free shampoo to extend the life of the treatment.
Is It Right for You?
Keratin treatments work best on hair that is naturally frizzy, colour-treated, or heat-damaged. A consultation with one of our stylists will help determine if it's the right choice for your hair goals and condition.
